Fun in the Lab

  • Volnuteer activity #3

A small group of us from the Bor Lab, along with other trainees from Forsyth, pitched in to assemble goody bags for children benefiting from the ForsythKids program.

  • Volunteer activity #4

We help serve 40 families today with East End House, and reached as many as 300 individuals. Great job everyone!

  • Axeploring Lab Dynamics

We unleashed our inner Vikings, flinging axes for fun and declaring the ultimate lab axe-slinger. Note to self: steer clear of challenging the newfound lab axe royalties!

  • Trying New Things

Alex is trying out his new toy!

  • ADA Forsyth Holiday party, 2023

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from the Bor Lab!

  • Board game night

    Board game night

Perfect combination of exciting board games and spicy Sichuan cuisine highlighted this evening. We welcomed new members and sad to see Nell leave us for a grad school. We will miss you!

  • Student scholar agar arts

Helping teach the next generation of microbiologists and having fun while we are at it. Check out the artistic creations of the Forsyth Student Scholars Summer Program!

  • Halloween

After four years of absence, Halloween finally came back to Forsyth. We were gram-negative Magnetospirillum, Leptospira, Photorhabdus, and gram-positive Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus.

  • Forsyth, Day of Connection

Good food, great event, and even better company, Forsyth day of connection was a great time to hangout with each other. We heard from the President of Boston Museum of Science!

  • Sox game

Reaching out… touching me… touching you… Sweet Caroline ba ba ba

Good times never seemed so good, so good!

  • Volunteer Activity #2

We bagged and distributed dry food, vegetables and ground turkey to those who need them at the East End House, one of Boston’s oldest social service centers.

  • Lab Lunch

Burgers at Harvard Gardens and then brisk walk back to the Lab cross the Longfellow. Summer is coming, almost there!

  • MIT micro symposium

This year, we were fully immersed in the MIT microbiome symposium. Jett help organize the symposium in his poop shirt while Deepak and Nell presented their first posters.

  • Fun with Lab meetings

The Creation of Adam is not exactly reflection of Joao and Jett’s collaboration but close enough :)

  • Lab Lunch

We only talked about science, promise ;)

  • Christmas, New Years, 2022

As we close out the year and hangout one last time, we look forward to the new year and all the accomplishments that we are going to have.

  • Christmas, New Years, 2022

We are missing Deepak, but this is too much fun :)

  • Cam vs Cam, who will win?

    Shuffleboard

Cam vs Cam, who will win?

  • Park Outing

Badminton and Volleyball again? You have got to be kidding me. And where are the summer high school students? We thank Veronica for making a wonderful cheese board!

  • Forsyth Summer Scholars

Cam and Divine hard at work!

  • Forsyth Retreat

We joined our Forsyth Institute colleagues on the Thompson Island in Boston to have full day of fun activities, including volleyball, ping-pong and socializing.

  • Lab Climbing

Pipette training does help with climbing, and everyone did really well for their first time. Our forearms were still sore after two days.

  • Forsyth Taste & Toast

We help organize the Forsyth annual Taste and Toast event. Everyone (not Dr. Bor) came up with amazing idea to use lego pieces to represent bacteria and form biofilm by forcing people to interact with each other. We won few raffle tickets too :)

  • Lab Volunteer Activity

Another successful lab hangout in the books. This time we bagged and distributed dry food, vegetables and ground turkey to those who need them at the East End House, one of Boston’s oldest social service centers.

  • Lab Retreat

First recorded Bor Lab retreat was a cabin trip in the middle of the Maine Mountains. We learned a lot about each other and created wonderful memories.

  • March Madness Brackets

Women and men’s brackets are up, and we had a lot of fun! Nell won the men’s bracket and the overall points, Dr. Bor won the women’s bracket but was last on the men’s.

  • Christmas, New Years, 2021

PANDEMIC cannot stop us. We had fun giving each other gifts and bringing our spirits back up. Dr. Bor’s head scribed cup made by Jett was the highlight!

  • Badminton Practice

Deepak showed us his immaculate badminton skills before the summer ended. It was a very windy day for sports, but we wrapped up the experience with a lab toast!

  • Ligature Application

Otto is schooling Dr. Bor how to tie a ligature on a tiny second molar of mouse maxilla. Otto was setting up for his live video recording of the ligature procedure (STAR Protocols).

  • Summer Hangout

This was our first official hang out as a lab together. We chatted and learned a lot about each other. Deepak will also enjoy his postdoc appreciation week present, and learn a bit more about US literature.

  • Outdoor Ballin'

We found out Yansong is really good at basketball, while Deepak could use a little more practice. Dr. Bor is getting old but he held his own and made few shots. We all had fun and that is what matters!

  • Recruitment

The Bor Lab is always recruiting good talent! New trainee Einstein is a good fit in the lab, but he could use a little more training in molecular microbiology and bacterial genetics.
